Society is continuously demanding higher quality and lower cost, whether it be a clearer picture on a television, better audio on the radio, or lower communication costs from packet processing. VoIP has the technology to deliver high quality audio while fulfilling the need for lower overall communication costs. The key for high quality is using a good physical design along with the processing power in this design to support the signal processing algorithms which provide minimal delay, little signal distortion, loudest volume and no echo. Fully optimized for the ARM architecture, the combination of SoundClear with an embedded ARM enables terminal designers to deliver to the user a phone experience full-filling the demand for high quality voice while offering a lower cost alternative to tradition telephony solutions. This article takes a closer look at the design challenges posed by the emergence of VoIP into the mainstream.
