Recent advances in Model-Based Design have unified specification, system simulation, implementation, and verification for signal processing-intensive hardware systems. This allows engineers to validate designs early in the development process, and eliminates re-work and errors inherent in separate synthesis and verification flows. This presentation describes the application of Model-Based Design to accelerate the development of signal processing hardware. The concepts are illustrated through step-by-step design, simulation, code generation, and verification of a high-speed digital down conversion "front end" for a software-defined radio application.
