The secret lives of scopes: Hints for getting the most out of your oscilloscope webcast
Overview:
Oscilloscopes have many features that most users don't use - not because they don't see the benefit, but because they're not well-publicized.

If you own these scopes, you'll want to tune in to learn how to build your toolbox. If you don't own a scope, you may still want to check out this presentation to learn more about what modern oscilloscopes can do.

This webcast will be a grab bag - we'll talk about some tools that you might not be using, and we'll talk about some specific techniques for finding errors that may be eluding you today.

Low-speed serial analysis

  • Monitoring overall bus health
  • Viewing protocol
  • Isolating errors
  • Error triggers
  • Isolating many events w/ segmented memory
  • Using error codes to narrow your search
  • Looking deeply into bursted UART communication
  • Saving analog channels with MSOs

    Connectivity
  • Taking your analysis offline
  • What is LXI
  • Intuilink toolbars and data capture
  • Offline viewing and analysis
  • Troubleshooting from another continent

    Triggering

  • Stabilizing triggers with trigger holdoff instead of pulse-width triggering
  • Finding runt pulses
  • Two techniques for finding glitches
  • Isolating events inside of PGAs

    Duration: One hour

    Who should view this webcast:
Engineers and technicians who would like to use their scope to troubleshoot low-speed serial (I2C, SPI, CAN, LIN, Flexray, RS-232/UART) designs and FPGA-based designs. Also for those who would like to learn triggering hacks, FPGA troubleshooting hints, and how to take advantage of modern connectivity tools.

    Giveaway:
Registrants who complete the feedback form by September 12 will be entered in a drawing to win an Agilent U1242A Handheld Digital Multi Meter. Official Rules
