Time Interval Analysis Measurements for Radar
Overview:
How are you measuring pulse width (PW) and pulse repetition interval (PRI) vs. time of fast pulses over a long period of time? How do you determine radar mode changes and characterize radar emissions?

Time Interval Analyzer measurements need to be performed by many design engineers on a variety of applications. You may want to know the PW of a train of pulses that were transmitted or received, or how the pulse repetition interval (PRI) changes over time. Radar system and PLL designers and users need to track frequency steps, PW, PRI, and other parameters. To support this effort a tool is required to capture, measure, and display the data in histogram, trends, or parameter value vs. time.

In this webcast we will discuss fundamentals of TIA measurements applied to pulsed RF signals based on a modular Time-to-Digital Converter (TDC) platform. We will discuss the advantages of the Agilent TDC solution as well as the boundary conditions of this 50ps resolution time measurement system.

We will show a TIA measurement application of a radar signal. The TIA system may be extended using a broadband high-resolution (10-bit) digitizer to perform additional radar measurements including modulation on pulse (FM Chirp-Barker Codes) using the 89600 Series Vector Signal Analysis software.

Before we wrap up the session with your questions we are going to discuss the advantages of our TIA solution for radar measurements and similar applications.
