65 nm: Here come the chips - Under the Hood On-Demand Seminar

Overview:
It's been a long gestation period, but it's safe to say that the semiconductor industry is finally out of the gate at 65 nm and on its way towards eventual maturity of this technology. That's not to say, however, that all the wrinkles have been worked out and that semiconductor manufacturers are but one step away from jumping en masse to 45 nm. The intricacies of just such a jump were made clear with the recent announcement by Texas Instruments that it would go fabless at that node.

Instead, manufacturers such as Intel (Prescott), AMD (Athlon), TI (Nokia baseband processor) and Xilinx (Virtex 5) will continue to perfect their 65-nm processes beyond the current implementations, with Xilinx working closely with its foundry partners UMC and Toshiba. But how, exactly, do these three leaders stack up relative to each other at 65 nm? What separates one from the other in terms of process, materials and structure?

Also, what does the pending maturation of the 65-nm mean for the industry at large? Clearly it begs the question about the timing of the next Moore's Law milestone of 45 nm. Ever-precocious Intel has already publicly announced its intention to be in production in the second half of 2007. Historical trends would predict a slightly later date of early 2008. However time will tell.

Use this On-Demand seminar to find out what choices each of these leading semiconductor manufacturer made—and why—to get to 65 nm.

Use the seminar to see:

  • What processes they used
  • Where those processes diverged and why
  • How mobility was enhanced without gate oxide scaling
  • Whether or not nickel salicide has completely replaced cobalt
  • And much more!

Who should attend:
Designers and users of leading-edge FPGA, ASIC and system-on-chip designs at 90 nm and beyond, as well as anyone looking to view the cutting edge of semiconductor design .
