DESCRIPTION
This course contains an overview of some of the common technologies and what is required in the topologies by the switching device and output diodes. The phase shifted bridge will be used as a specific example of some characteristics to bear in mind for the topology and the effect of the topology on the switching devices. Then there will be an overview of MOSFET and Fairchild Semiconductor's new SuperFETs. Finally, there will be a short discussion on diodes and IGBTs and how their switching characteristics can effect the operation of the power supply, which could be a UPS, a DC-to-DC power supply, or a motor drive.
