DESCRIPTION
Machine to Machine (M2M) is a powerful driving force behind new technologies connecting people, devices and systems together. But M2M is more than just connected wireless devices sharing data remotely with or without human intervention. It is also about collecting and distributing the desired data efficiently – often with real time constraints — using the best suited wireless spectrum available and connected to a back-end system placed anywhere in the world.

During this session, we will discuss how M2M devices and wireless infrastructures are changing to collect and distribute information and design challenges associated with managing system resources and user applications, such as remote connectivity and data security. We'll also take a look at companies like CCww, Wavesat and Enfora to understand how they are addressing these issues. Finally, we will approach how certification requirements can affect a device's design and discuss the applicability of Android in M2M devices.

What You Will Learn:

  • The application of diverse technologies to create M2M devices
  • Design challenges associated with M2M devices and supporting wireless infrastructures
  • Certification requirements that are applicable to M2M devices
  • Android's potential for M2M devices

INTENDED AUDIENCE

  • Design engineers, technical managers, product managers and system architects from companies developing M2M devices
  • Module vendors, system integrators and network operators considering M2M deployment

ESTIMATED TIME
60 min.
