Linear amplitude modulation in very high power full carrier systems still requires rather large solid state or vacuum tube devices in Medium Wave (MW) and Short Wave (SW), and VHF and UHF television transmission broadcast systems. The modulation format for Medium Wave and Short Wave is simple full carrier 100% AM with no phase modulation. A new means to generate full carrier amplitude modulation with very high power efficiently and negligible distortion at high level is presented in this paper. A follow-on paper explains the derivation of the more versatile Digital Linear Amplifier.
