This lecture
describes an FPGA-based cryptographic engine for securing
confidential data over the Internet. We will start with an overview
of the Internet Protocol Security standard and its requirements.
Following, we will describe FPGA architectures
and their potential. Finally, we will describe the proposed
adaptive cryptographic engine (ACE). We will also provide
performance evaluation results and a compression scheme for
reducing the memory requirements of ACE and similar FPGA-based
embedded systems.
