The growing interest in wireless
communications leads to take into account new techniques for
capacity enhancement and quality improvement in multipath
propagation environments. Smart antennas, are able to increase the
capacity by rejecting co-channel interference, and to combat the
intersymbol interference by reducing incorrelated multipath
contributions. Here, we describe a software
simulation system of smart antennas for base stations. Two topics
have been considered: the operation of the adaptive array
configuration, and the characterization of the indoor mobile radio
channel with ray launching techniques.
