| The Importance of Tools in Multi-core Development |
|
Overview: Semiconductor companies, no longer able to scale performance with clock frequency, are moving towards multi-core architectures.
To address this, operating systems must not only be capable of supporting the various multi-processing models, they must also provide a comprehensive set of tools that specifically target the requirements inherent to multi-core development.
Understand how to apply the various multi-processing models to your specific project in this one-hour session. Learn how the right tools can facilitate migrating legacy code to multi-core processors, simplify characterizing and debugging in a multi-core environment, and optimize performance.
Who Should Attend: This one-hour seminar with a short Q&A will be of great interest to embedded software development managers, architects, and developers who are considering using a multi-core processor for an upcoming project.
Presenter:
Robert Craig, Technical Team Leader, QNX Dr. Robert Craig is a senior software engineer and team leader for the operating system development group at QNX Software Systems. With over 13 years' experience in embedded systems design, Dr. Craig has worked extensively as both a software architect and a development team manager for various data communications companies. Dr. Craig holds a Bachelor's of Science in Computer Science and Physics, and a Doctorate in Physics with a focus on optical computing technologies.
Thomas Fletcher, Senior Software Developer, QNX Since joining QNX Software Systems eight years ago, Thomas Fletcher has served in various roles, including OS kernel architect, senior automotive software engineer, and development tools manager. His prior experience encompasses digital processing systems, speech algorithm design and development, ship-borne software for satellite weather information systems, and COTS components for networking equipment. A member of the IEEE, he holds a Bachelor's in Computer Engineering and a Master's in Systems and Computer Engineering, with a focus on system-level tracing and optimization techniques.
