Straight Talk: Using Acoustic Processing to Optimize Handsfree Systems
Overview:
To enhance voice quality for embedded voice systems, system designers have typically relied on dedicated speech processors or acoustic processing libraries adapted from non-automotive environments.

The QNX Aviage Acoustic Processing Kit is not only based on years of experience in the OEM automotive handsfree field, it's been tuned and tested against terabytes of automotive acoustic data – noise generated by engines, road surfaces, HVAC systems, other vehicles, and so on. What's more, it eliminates the need for dedicated hardware, simplifying system design and lowering material costs.

This webinar discusses this sophisticated acoustic echo cancellation and speech enhancement solution and explores several advanced techniques designed to significantly improve the handsfree call experience – including high frequency encoding (HFE) and band-width extension (BWE). Find out what it takes to create a truly high-quality handsfree call experience.

Estimated length: 1 hour, including Q & A.

Who should attend?
This seminar is best suited for system designers and architects, software engineers, and managers in the automotive market.

Presenter:

Dr. Phil Hetherington is a director of R&D at QNX Software Systems where he is responsible for all research, development, and quality assurance activities relating to speech and automotive acoustics. Prior to joining QNX, Phil developed three software programs for the analysis of neural clusters (AUTOCUT), hippocampal place fields (PFA), and genetic arrays (GAE). He holds over 47 patents in acoustics processing and is an accomplished author and presenter. Phil's doctoral degree in Psychology comes from McGill University.
