| Characterizing AM/PM Noise Components in Microwave Signal Sources |
|
Overview:
This seminar provides how to measure AM noise and PM noise independently of each other in RF/uW/mmW signal sources and communication systems. More efficient and speedy evaluation techniques will be proposed. Precise phase-noise measurements for somewhat drifty oscillators, as well as high-quality quiet oscillators, in uW/mmW will be discussed.
A cross-correlation noise-reduction technique and a digital delay-line method will be described for identifying very low random noise below -140dBc/Hz (or equivalent to "sub pico-second jitter" in multi-Gbps systems).
Presenter:
 Shigeru Tanimoto
Shigeru has 18 year experience in high frequency instrument design and development management (such as network analyzers, impedance analyzers, and LCR meters), and 12 year experience in product planning and business development management. He is an amateur archeologist. He also enjoys collecting and repairing vintage radios and measurement instruments in his spare time.
Duration: One Hour
Giveaway: Registrants who complete the feedback form will be entered in a drawing to win one of two $75 Amazon.com gift certificates.Official Rules
Who should view this webcast:
Signal source module designers and high frequency system designers (at 10MHz to 110GHz, both analog and digital) who want to evaluate AM [amplitude modulation] and PM [phase modulation] noise separately and efficiently.
