The Quest for a New PCIeTM Gen 2 Test Concept
Overview:
With the introduction and roll-out of PCI EXPRESS® Gen 2 into the marketplace, hardware designers and chip developers are faced with even more challenges due to the increased design complexity. One area that is particularly challenging is fulfilling the PCI EXPRESS Gen 2 requirements for the link layer (speed as well as link width negotiation). The link layer with the Link Training and Status State Machine (LTSSM) has become even more complex. Although in the past LTSSM was not necessarily one of the most critical parts of the design, with PCI EXPRESS Gen 2 this is a different story. The increased speed, to 5 Gb/s and the link width negotiation create the need to ensure that this is one of the most robustly tested areas of the design.

This webinar will focus on how new test approaches and solutions can close this gap and address the challenges developers are faced with today.

You will find out:
  • What the LTSSM challenges really are!
  • What kind of test device and functionality you will need for efficient and effective testing
  • How to force the LTSSM into various states so that the state transitions can be verified.
  • How previous and new test approaches and tools differ
PCIe is a trademark and PCI EXPRESS is a registered trademark of the PCI-SIG.
