The results from Agile software delivery teams are clear: faster delivery of quality software, significantly improved project visibility, and better alignment between business and IT organizations. However, Agile development processes put an increased demand on SCM tools. Organizations looking to gradually move projects from more traditional processes to Agile ones, or have multiple processes coexist across teams, must carefully determine what capabilities are most important to supporting their needs.

This paper identifies 15 key features and 5 related use cases for selecting an SCM tool that is appropriate for Agile software development. By identifying tools that support these features and enable the related use cases, software development teams can assure that their SCM tool is not only suitable for Agile, but assists in implementing SCM best practices throughout the development organization.
