Maxim Integrated Products Many Maxim microcontrollers integrate controllers for LCD displays, which are implemented in hardware. Some microcontrollers like the DS89C450 do not offer this functionality, but one can implement a simple display controller in software. This application note describes how to drive a static LCD panel with 7-segment digits using the DS89C450 ultra-high-speed flash microcontroller.
