This paper describes the forward and reverse link enhancements to the physical layer design of single-carrier (1x) cdma2000 wireless networks incorporated in Revision C and D of IS-2000 standard. New dedicated channels, the forward packet data channel (F-PDCH) and the reverse packet data channel (R-PDCH), are introduced to support high-speed packet transmission (up to 3.091 Mbps in the forward link (from the base station (BS) to the mobile station (MS)) and 1.8456 Mbps in the reverse link (from the MS to the BS) with 16-QAM modulation). This paper is focused on describing the features that are included to support high-speed wireless packet transmission on the forward and reverse links for cdma2000 1x system.
