Continuing the success of wireless LANs (WLANs) depends up on the use of the 802.11a standard in addition to 802.11g. Together, these two types of networks offer the easiest and most effective way to accomodate a high volume of traditional data traffic while ensuring high quality of service for applications such as voice over IP (VoIP). This white paper outlines 802.11g limitations that will soon hurt WLAN credibility and shows how a dual-band 802.11ag strategy overcomes those limitations in a cost-effective way.
