Isolating Power in Communication Bus and Gate Drive Applications

Overview:
This presentation will focus on design techniques and solutions for implementing up to 2 Watts of isolated, regulated power, for use in communication interface, sensor, and gate drive applications. The discussion will cover the advantages and disadvantages, and other design considerations, in applying discrete, modular, and integrated, isolated DC/DC converter and data coupler technology. Analog Devices' isoPower® solutions will be used in real-world circuit design examples.

Mark provides application engineering support for ADI's iCoupler® isolation product line at ADI. Prior to joining ADI, Mark spent 6 six year at California Eastern Laboratories where he was responsible for application support for NEC's optocouplers and solid state relay product lines. Mark's experience also includes 17 years at Lockheed Martin missiles and space where he was a radiation effects test engineer, including work on the Gravity Probe B satellite program. Mark received his MS in Physics from Indiana University.

Peter Clerico
Field Applications Engineer
Arrow Electronics Inc.


Peter is an analog specialist FAE at the Arrow Boston office. He has been with Arrow for the last five years and was an FAE with Pioneer for 9 years prior to that. He was also an aerospace design engineer with Allied Signal in Baltimore MD. Peter received his BSEE from Villanova and is a veteran of the US Navy.
