DESCRIPTION This course provides a
working overview of the xDSL technologies. You will look at xDSL
markets, network structures, line loss and symbol coding, wireline
noise issues, and performance issues. You will also learn about
ADSL, HDSL, and HDSL II, including a comparison of variants of ADSL
and HDSL.
PREREQUISITES A basic knowledge of telecommunications
networks at the physical layer. A bachelor's in electrical
engineering is very useful. Some course content best suited for
those with Ph.Ds; however, there is good content for any engineer.
INTENDED AUDIENCE The audience is intended to be wide ranging
but technical, from engineers interested in learning the nuts and
bolts of the technology (to design new systems or evaluate existing
ones) to network planners who need to be concerned about testing to
product evaluators for ISPs, magazines, etc.
