DESCRIPTION
This course provides a working overview of the xDSL technologies. You will look at xDSL markets, network structures, line loss and symbol coding, wireline noise issues, and performance issues. You will also learn about ADSL, HDSL, and HDSL II, including a comparison of variants of ADSL and HDSL.

PREREQUISITES
A basic knowledge of telecommunications networks at the physical layer. A bachelor's in electrical engineering is very useful. Some course content best suited for those with Ph.Ds; however, there is good content for any engineer.

INTENDED AUDIENCE
The audience is intended to be wide ranging but technical, from engineers interested in learning the nuts and bolts of the technology (to design new systems or evaluate existing ones) to network planners who need to be concerned about testing to product evaluators for ISPs, magazines, etc.
