Parallax
Parallax was founded in Sacramento, CA in 1988 with the purpose of developing computer and microcontroller hardware solutions. Early products included the Apple Sound Ace, a digitizer card for Apple II users, and 8051 programming tools. In 1990 Parallax released the first third-party programmer for Microchip PIC controllers, and sold over 12,000 units around the world before discontinuing the product in 1998. In 1992 the first BASIC Stamp was released, marking a long-term research and development effort in which over 700,000 BASIC Stamps were in use by engineers, hobbyists, and educators.
