Today's modular enclosures differ from older, welded enclosures in several important ways. Newer enclosures' modularity provide greater flexibility in system design, mounting options, and other deployment characteristics. Compared to welded enclosures, modular enclosures provide a much greater range of dimensions, multiple mounting options within the same platform, more flexibility in system designs, greater ease of wiring due to removable skins and doors, and high configurability using standard components—all of which can serve to lower overall costs.
