The move from DDR3 to DDR4, the latest generation of computer memory, has started. DDR4 enables higher speed at reduced power consumption. An important question now is: which material is the most suitable for these high demanding DDR4 connectors? This paper presents different options for the housing material. You will find a benchmark between various high performance polymers such as LCP, Stanyl (PA46), Stanyl Fortii (PA4T), PA66, and PPA. This comparison of materials highlights their performance with respect to key parameters such as connector reliability, pin retention forces, warpage, and CLTE compatibility with the PCB.
