Efficient Audio-Video Synchronization Scheme for 3GPP/MP4 Movie Player
3GPP/MP4 are dominant file formats for exchanging video content on cell phones. The movie playback framework needs to support these formats along with audio-video synchronization, special movie effects, and typical FF/REW features. The typical approach used in industries addresses individual handling, making it difficult to implement on low cost embedded platforms. This paper describes previous approaches as well as an efficient scheme to handle all required needs by enhancing file format that modifies the time stamp of audio and video units. This results in simple movie framework architecture that sends out audio-video on rendering devices based on "modified time stamp". The proposed scheme is implemented in the C5X DSP with simple movie player software stack.
