Networks of sensors consisting of numerous small nodes that communicate wirelessly are now feasible, thanks in part to IC solutions developed by Texas Instruments for wireless utility meters. These and related solutions from TI provide sensing, management for energy harvesting and storage, measurement calculations, system control, data conversion, wireless communication and other essential functions. Developers can use these components today to build a variety of types of wireless sensor nodes that can affordably extend traditional automated control applications and open new areas of monitoring and control.
