Resistive touch screens had their heyday, but their use has irrefutably declined. There are clear instances where they are no doubt better suited for low-cost designs whose users must wear gloves, such as in medical, industrial, and military environments. But capacitive touch screens have gained in popularity, and the leading smartphones and tablets on the market today incorporate capacitive touchscreen functionality.
