Testing Access and Premise Fibers
With the exponential growth of wireless services expected to continue well into the future, service providers are being forced to increase the capacity of their networks. For the core network, this can be relatively easily achieved by upgrading the transmission cards or employing other bandwidth expanding technologies such as WDM since the optic fiber backbone has virtually unlimited bandwidth. For the access or premise network, fiber optic cables will most likely need to be installed. This application note will provide an overview of the testing methods and the types of tests that should be performed.
