Performance without compromise: Implementing real-time control and communications with a dual-subsystem microcontroller
With the growing importance of energy efficiency and smart grid technology, there is an increasing need for reliable silicon that supports real-time control with an interface capable of connecting to a wider network. Many robotic and automation applications, for example, have drive systems managing multiple motors that need to coordinate with a larger subsystem to enable intelligent monitoring and remote control. Similarly, a wide range of green applications such as solar inverters are using communication links to increase the individual operating efficiency of an array of devices. Communications are also required to increase the safety and reliability of many other embedded and industrial systems.
