Frequency Search Algorithm for Non-Linear Trim for RC Oscillators

Test engineers are assigned with the responsibility of trimming the RC Oscillator in a SoC to a particular frequency. However, for a non linear frequency trim, it could be a tricky thing to do. This white paper provides a new algorithm for frequency searching for the case of non linear trim. This paper also discusses non-linear frequency trim and the concept of frequency overlapping between different trim values. The algorithm presented here locates the correct frequency in a minimum number of cycles and hence saves a lot of time when hundreds of devices are to be trimmed.
