For the past few years, corporate and government IT and security staffs have been waging an all-out war against the rising tide of malware that threatens to invade and take over their business systems by stealing, corrupting and destroying sensitive and critical data.

But while PCs remain the primary targets, hackers and malware-writers are increasingly setting their sights on non-PC SCADA devices attached to the network. In other words, as PC security mechanisms have become more sophisticated, non-PC SCADA devices are becoming the more attractive, comparatively "soft" targets—an easier way into the host network, thereby threatening our critical national infrastructure.
