Windows Media audio or WMA is the generic term coined for the audio technologies developed by Microsoft for audio encoding and playback. It is part of the suite of codecs developed by Microsoft for the Windows Media Technologies Framework. The Windows Media Framework gives the ability to create, deliver, and play digital content as well as extensible functions such as rights management and content protection.
