The MathWorks engineers argue that industry fears about the complexity of the Autosar standard are overblown. They explore what they call the "Autosar meta information hassle" and seek to offer solutions for overcoming it. They then tackle the issue of adding blocks to a design model in order to make it Autosar compliant. The authors argue that the "block set trap" is simply a matter of configuration. The discussion then moves to overhead in run times and code size. The solution to these automotive design challenges, they argue, is "model-based design." The authors maintain that the focus when working with Autosar should be on design, not coding. They say model-based design keeps the engineering process focused on error prevention and early error detection. Next steps are discussed briefly.
