Digital Image Stabilization Algorithm for Mobile Video Phones
Most image stabilization schemes perform stabilization as a preprocessing step prior to video coding. We propose a low complexity algorithm that can be easily integrated with video coding and decoding cores to meet the stringent system complexity requirements of future mobile video phones. While avoiding the problems of heuristic rules and experimentally derived thresholds the new algorithm can dramatically improve subjective quality. Furthermore experimental investigations show that integration of the stabilization scheme with encoding can improve coding efficiency.
