Achieving Reliable Distributed Object Communications within Unreliable Networks
Using distributed object technologies in environments where the network is unreliable, or where network connections are frequently broken and re-established, can be problematic. There are many research projects that address this topic, however they almost always use a proprietary or brand new schema. Most of us have to work in the "real world", and deal with real world distributed paradigms such as RPC, CORBA, DCOM and RMI.
This paper will briefly outline the different distributed architectures and then some real world solutions to dealing with unreliable networks.
