Low-power, low-voltage power subsystems get considerable attention, but there's an enormous world of high-current, high-voltage designs which are critical to servers and data centers, industrial equipment, and other applications. These installations require DC connectors which can handle tens and even hundreds of amps, while providing contact resistance in the milliohm range. This Fundamentals course explores some of the many connector types available for the multiple cable, board, backplane, bus bar, and other power-delivery transitions which are required from power source to load. It also explores the tradeoffs and design considerations involved when evaluating the high-power connector options at each stage.
