Touch control is replacing physical buttons, sliders, and wheels as the means for a human-machine interface (HMI). Some advantages to touch screen control is that it is both and input and output (saving separate keyboard and mouse for computer applications) and it has no moving parts making it less susceptible to mechanical stress and dust.
This course provides an introduction to capacitive touch technology, including theory and the use of a touch control evaluation kit. Content includes:
What is capacitive touch control?
History of the technology and applications
The basics of a capacitor
Current capacitive touch technologies
Control interface
Physical design
Screen materials
Evaluation kit demonstration

Thanks JCJung.
There are some exciting developments happening in capacitive control technology. I can't wait to see how the next generation of smartphone HDIs are enhanced.
Are your working on any touch control applications in your job? And please let me know what other Fundamentals courses you'd like to see here.
This was a good overview of Capacitive Sens technology and how it works. Since it is in just about every new consumer product on the market, it is nice to have an idea of exactly how it works. Pretty simple actually.
Technology is really taking the world to the new height everyday. Thanks for sharing such a wonderful information with us.

Nice presentation. It gives good overview of capacitive touch technology. we want to know the comparison between capacitive and other touch technology.
Good presentation. I was attracted to this course because of the title that suggested a connection with the touch switch lamp, and i was curious about it,but unfortunately it doesn't cover such a device. Anyway thanks a lot and keep up the good work. Cheers.
Cypress has good capsense technology. Their CY3269A EZ color demo kit is so nicely designed. The color triangle provided on the circuit board with the capsense technology gives any light color touched by us through a tri color LED.Also the LED brightness can be controlled by touch slider. Superb.
